Tie Wrap - Cartridge Clamp
The prefilled CFS units made for the 870/890/1270/1280/1290/ 2000P printers must have something to hold
down the cartridges. This is because we use original Epson cartridges for the prefilled units. The
Epson cartridges have poppet valves in them and each poppet valve has a spring that pushes the
cartridge up. On the color cartridge, there are 5 springs pushing it up. If the cartridge
moves up, just slightly, the out of ink red light will come on. This is a problem.
This the reason we were supplying Modified Cartridge Clamps for these systems in the past.

Now, there is a better idea. We have stopped making the Modified Cartridge Hold Down Clamps
for the 1270/1280/1290/2000P systems. We now ship with each unit a simple "Tie Wrap"
nylon strap.
This Tie Wrap is to be installed as shown in the photo.
Caution: DO NOT put the Tie Wrap OVER the ink tubes. It must go UNDER
the ink tubes as shown. To install do this....
- Push the Orange button on the front of the printer to move the carts to the left.
- Thread the Tie Wrap under the black cartridge holder and under the tubes as shown in photo.
- Make sure the Tie Wrap is located as shown, near the back of the cartridge.
- Tighten the Tie Wrap using a pair of pliers.
Caution: Do not over tighten or the black cart will be pulled away from the chip towards the color cart, resulting in a red light.
- Cut off the excess part of the Tie Wrap with a pair of diagonal cutters or scissors.
- Push the Orange button on the front of the printer to move the carts back to park.
This will hold down the cartridges so you will not get a premature
red light on the printer. If you ever need to lift the carts, which should
be never or very rare, cut the tie wrap, and replace with a new one. We have them in
stock and there will be no charge (1st Class Mail Only) if you need one.
