1.
Make sure your HP cartridge is working properly before you start this process. If it
has been empty for more than a an hour it may have clogged nozzles. It is best to do
the refilling immediately after your cartridge shows signs of becoming empty.
| |
2.
Place the cartridge in the Snap & Fill housing so that the print head is pointed at the
end with the rubber seal. Put the print head section of the cartridge in the housing first.
| |
3.
Push the plunger on the 60 cc syringe to the bottom. Then attach the Snap & Fill housing
to the syringe. It is a twist and lock fit. Pull back on the syringe slowly. This will
remove air from the cartridge and collapse the foil bag inside the cartridge.
| |
4.
Disconnect the syringe from the housing and empty the ink and air from the syringe by
pushing the plunger down. Point the syringe at your sink or waste container.
| |
5.
Put the needle on the end of the syringe and draw 40 cc of ink into the syringe. Without
pushing on the plunger, remove the needle from the end of the syringe and re-attach
the Snap & Fill housing. Do not remove the cartridge from the housing.
| |
6.
Gently press the plunger on the syringe to begin filling the cartridge. After all the
ink is dispensed into the cartridge, remove the cartridge from the Snap & Fill and blot
the print head with a clean paper towel to remove any excess ink. Let the cartridge
sit flat on its side on some paper towel to make sure it is not over filled. Some ink
may drain onto the paper towel. Do not keep the print head in direct contact with the
paper towel or it will wick out the ink.
| |
7.
Blot the print head again with paper towel. There should be a solid looking ink mark
on the paper towel. Take the cartridge to the printer and install it. Print a few
solid black pages to make sure the ink is flowing properly. If you are getting blobs
of ink, keep printing solid pages until it prints properly. You can make a solid black
page using your graphics software or word processor.

Wash out the syringe, the Snap & Fill housing and the needle with warm water. Store it
away for the next time you need it.
