No flushing or purging is required for desktop or wide format printers when switching to MISPRO Ink. However, on wide
format printers, printing a sufficient number of solid squares of each color is required to fill the delivery tubes
between the cartridges and the print head.
They should make sure the 7600 carts are empty or just traces of ink left. Then they can add the MIS PRO inks. No
need to water flush them out. But if there is 30% of 7600 left in the cart, they should not just add MIS PRO, it will
destroy the color balance.
The MIS PRO is compatible with the Epson pigment OEM inks.
This means that when they are mixed they will not form a sludge or gooey mixture that causes clogs. It does not
mean the colors are exactly the same.
So, if it is a wide format printer, they have to print enough or do cleaning cycles to purge out the old ink or the
old/new mixture in the lines. We tell them to print at least 25 square feet per color or to dump the lines (transport
procedure).
If it is a desktop machine (no tubes between cart and printhead) then, just a couple of cleaning cycles or a few
full pages of each color will purge out the old new.
The big new thing here is the chemical compatibility and not having ink mixtures that turns to sludge inside the
printer. The older 7600 inks were actually pretty good in this regard, but there were a few customers who
claimed it clogged when mixed with Epson OEM inks. This is not the case with the MIS PRO, it is much more compatible.
MISPRO can go on top of MIS 7600 or Epson OEM pigment, no problem, flushing not required, but true color
will not come until all the old/new ink mixture is gone.
The confusion comes when someone is putting MIS PRO ink on top of Lyson, MIS dyebase or other dyebase inks.
The matte black (Eboni) is not too friendly with non pigment inks. So in these cases flushing the printer
with cleaning fluid is still recommended. If they are putting MISPRO on top of any of our pigment inks, no problems
should develop. Eboni mixes with our older pigment blacks and with the Epson OEM pigment matte black, but not with dyebase inks.
Color balance is a totally different issue. To get the true color of the ink coming out on paper requires some
purging like described above.
