The MIS Empty 10, 11, 12, 82, 84 and 85 carts use a check valve system to prevent ink from draining out of the
air vent hole, as well as control incoming air. Original HP carts use a bag and cannot be refilled using this
method. Note that each cartridge is keyed for its color position, pay close attention during installation to
ensure that the cartridge is centered in the channel before pushing it all of the way down.

Refill Procedure
- Remove the safety cap from the end of syringe and install a 1 1/2 " long needle. It is a twist lock connection. Load the syringe with 10 ml of ink. Make sure it is the right color for the cartridge you are filling.
- There are two ports on the top of the cartridge, one is labeled air and the other is unlabeled. Remove the plugs from Both of the ports.
- Next, hold the cartridge upright in your left hand in such a way that the "Air Port" is to the left side and the top of the cartridge is angled slightly toward your body as shown in the picture.
- Insert the needle into the unlabeled "Fill Port" and slowly inject 10cc of ink into the cartridge, the ink may foam slightly during injection so it may be necessary to let the cartridge rest for a while to allow the foam to dissipate before continuing.
- Reload the syringe and repeat until the cartridge is full (approximately 20cc for the small cartridge and 35cc for the large cartridge.)
- Install both plugs in the top of the cartridge for storage.
- Remove the "Air Port" plug before installing the cartridge into the printer. Note the label on top of the cartridge.
