Here is how to install a MIS wide format 4000, 4800, 7600 or 9600 CFS Cartridge that has been previously pre-filled with ink.
If you are starting with a completley empty cartridge, then you must first charge the cartridge with ink, but following this
procedure... Charging a 4000, 4800, 7600 or 9600 CFS with Ink for First Time

| Follow this procedure for each cartridge: |

| 1. |
Clean the inside of the 500 ml bottles. Make sure the cap has a small hole
in it. It should be in the Nalgene logo. Load the 500 ml bottles with ink, to the point
where the bottle starts to curve. Put the top on the bottle. Label either the top of the
bottle or the sides with the type and color of ink you have put into it. |

If you did not purchase the MIS Wide Format Bottle Holder (MIS-WFBH). Find the resting place for the bottles.
The bottom of the bottle should be 6 to 8 inches higher than the bottom of the printer. You can use a
box or tray to keep the ink bottles organized and prevent them from tipping over accidentally. If you
have the Epson printer stand, use a stool or small table next to the printer. Bottle height is important.
If too high, ink will siphon into printer. If too low the printer will not be able to draw the ink
out of the bottle. The bottle holder can be found on the CFS page for the 4800 or the CFS Accessory page. |

Trim the tube length for a neat tube path that does not have a lot of extra slack in it. Trim
the end of the tube on a 45 degree angle. Mark the tube with a felt tip marker, 5 inches from
the end of the tube.
Insert the tube into the hole on the side of the bottle until the mark you made on the tube
disappears into the bottle. Don't go in past this point.
Avoid any loops or roller coaster type curves to the tube. Try to keep the tube in a straight path to the cartridge.
Use tape to attach the tube to strategic locations on the printer. Keep it neat.

Attach a MIS-FADP adapter to the end of a 10 cc syringe. Insert the syringe into the exit port on the cartridge, we
call it the septum. Pull back on the syringe until some ink appears in the syringe. This will prime the
cartridge to prevent any air or ink foam from getting into the printer.
Wash off the syringe and adapter, and repeat the process for each of the cartridges.

With the printer power on, remove the old cartridges and insert the new CFS cartridges.
Make sure the right color cart is in the right slot.

If you are installing MIS inks, other than MIS PRO ink, for the first time in your printer, you must preflush the printer
with MIS cleaning cartridges before proceeding.

| 7. |
When you print, you will see ink slowly climb the tube and head towards the cartridge. It
will take quite a while for this to happen. Don't worry about it, just print as you normally
would. To fill the tubes it takes about 4 ml of ink or 4 square feet of printout per color.

Resetting the Chips - The Auto Reset chips do not need to be reset until the Epson monitoring system says
the ink level is at 5%. The Auto Reset chips actually reset themselves when the ink level recorded on the chip
falls below the 5% level. However, the printer will not accept this automatic reset until the Ink Change Lever
is lifted on the printer.
Let the level go down and down until it gets to the point where the LED begins to
blink (approx 5%). At this point the chip resets itself to full, but the printer will not
believe this. So it gives a cartridge not recognized error. At this time the
the Ink Lever must be raised for a few seconds and then put back down. This is the
point the cartridges could have been changed and therefore the printer must accept the
new ink level on the chips.
Do not remove the cartridge, just lift the Ink Lever when the LED begins to blink.
