Refill Instructions For HP 56, 57, 58 Inkjet Cartridges
- Remove label from top of cartridge.
- Push clean a tooth pick into each hole to verify the color positions. Then mark each hole with a felt tip pen, C,M,Y etc.
- Tape over all holes except the one you are going to put ink into. Use scotch tape or black electrical tape.
- Attach needle to syringe and load syringe with appropriate color ink (6cc for color, 16cc for black).
- After I loading the syringe, point it straight up. Then put a paper towel over the end of the needle, and press the plunger, very gently, to get the trapped air out of the syringe.
- Once the air is gone, put any excess ink back into the correct bottle. The goal is to end up with 5cc or 15cc of ink that is air free.
- Set the cartridge on news paper or paper towel so the print head is in contact with the paper.
- Insert needle into correct cartridge ink hole. Make sure needle reaches to bottom of cart, then lift the needle back up approximately 1/4".
- SLOWLY inject the ink into the cartridge. Stop if the ink begins to well up from the fill hole.
- Clean off top of cartridge, un-tape the next fill hole and tape over the one just filled. This is so you do not get accidental color contamination.
- Repeat steps 4-10 until all colors have been injected.
- Clean off the top of the cartridge. Place scotch tape over the top of the cartridge so it covers every hole.
- Use a pin and put a small hole (vent hole) through the scotch tape for each hole on the top of the cartridge. This is important, don't skip this step. The cartridge must be vented to atmosphere or it will not work.
- If you have purchased a prime tool (MIS-PRIME2) you can remove 1-1.5cc of ink from the bottom of the cartridge at this time using the prime tool instructions.
- Reinstall in printer and run one or two cleaning cycles until the cartridge begins to print correctly.
