HP 820/850/855/870/720/722/890/1000/750 Printers - Black Cartridge

PREPARATION
Step 1:
Remove cartridge from printer.

Step 2:
Scrape off the round plastic seal as shown on the left, using a flat blade. When seal is removed, the ball bearing will be exposed.

Step 3:
Push the ball into the cartridge as shown on the right, using the "Black Entry Tool" provided.

REFILL AND SEAL
Step 4:
Prepare the squeeze bottle by putting the Needle cap on it. Make sure to install the o'ring before putting the cap on the bottle. Attach the pink needle to the needle cap. CAUTION: Do not use the long sharp 4" needle, use the blunt 3/4" purple needle. The 2 oz squeeze bottle holds 60 cc and the 1 oz bottle holds 30 cc.

Step 5:
If you have a syringe in your kit, attach the pink needle (not the 4" needle) and draw about 10 cc of ink into the syringe.

Step 6:
Fill the cartridge through the hole created by pushing the ball in, as shown on the left. DO NOT OVER FILL. If the cartridge was empty, it will take about 30 cc of ink to fill it, maybe a little less.

Step 7:
When the filling operation is complete, squeeze the sides of the cartridge tightly. While holding the sides, insert a new ball into the seat, as shown on the right. Turn cartridge upsidedown then release the squeeze. DO NOT RELEASE SQUEEZE UNTIL BALL IS IN PLACE AND CARTRIDGE IS UPSIDEDOWN (actually right side up now).

A nice idea is to use a Pony Clamp to squeeze sides of cartridge, see our Accessories Page. It provides the squeeze and keeps cartridge upright in the process.
